We are ready to enjoy lazy summer days, planned vacations, time away from school, and all of the other pleasures that summer brings. Don’t Take A Break From Your Hygiene Routine
When on vacation or enjoying a late night, it can be tempting to skip brushing and flossing for a night here and there when exhaustion sets in. We want to encourage you to always care for your teeth properly no matter how tired you might be. The days when we are the most tired are usually the days that we need to brush our teeth the most because it is more likely that we have indulged in sweet treats or sugary drinks.
Enjoy Sweet Summer Treats in Moderation
Speaking of sweet treats and sugary drinks, it is best if they are enjoyed in moderation. We know that an ice cold soft drink or delicious daiquiri seems to hit the spot on a hot, summer day. No matter how delicious they are, these drinks are time bombs for your teeth. The same is true for ice cream and other frozen treats. When consumed in excess, they can contribute to tooth decay and eventually cavities.
Be Prepared For Dental Accidents
Summer days do not mean that you are exempt from experiencing a dental emergency. A bad bite into corn on the cob, a slip on a diving board, or a wild pitch during a baseball game can leave you or a loved one dealing with a dental emergency. It is best to remain calm, assess the situation, and call our office as soon as possible. If the emergency is very serious, you should of course head straight to the nearest emergency room.
Summer is not a time to postpone your hygiene examinations if you are due for your appointment. We look forward to seeing you soon in our office located in Baldwinsville, NY. We hope that you and your family have a safe and magical summer!
